LOVE
Island
of Love
ONCE
upon a time, there was an island where all feelings lived.
Happiness,
Sadness, Knowledge, and all the others, including LOVE.
One
day, it was announced that the island would sink,
so all the feelings prepared
their boats and left.
LOVE was the only one that stayed.
Love
wanted to persevere until the last possible moment.
When
the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness
was passing by in a grand yacht. Love asked "Can you take me with
you?"
"No, there is a lot of gold and jewels and no place for you."
Love
decided to ask Vanity, who was also passing by.
"No, I can't help
you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat."
Sadness
was close by so Love asked for help. "Sadness, let me go with you?"
"Oh, Love, I am so sad, that I need to be by myself."
Happiness
passed by Love too, but she was so happy
that she didn't even hear when
Love called her.
Suddenly,
there was a voice "Come Love, I will take you."
It was an elder.
Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he forgot to ask the elder his
name.
When they arrived on the dry island, the elder went his way.
Love,
realizing how much he owed the elder, asked Knowledge "Who helped me?"
"It
was Time" Knowledge answered.
"Time"
asked Love. But "Why did Time help me?"
Knowledge
smiled with deep Wisdom and answered.
"Because only Time is capable
of understanding how great Love is."
"Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile,
in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile.
Don't only give your care, but give your heart as well."
*****
"It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing.
It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving."
...Mother Teresa
LOVE IS...
Being happy for the other person when they are happy;
sad for the other person when they are sad.
Being together through all the good and the bad times.
Love is the source of strength.
Love is...
Being honest with yourself and with the other person at all times.
Telling, listening, respecting the truth and never pretending.
Love is the source of reality...
Love is...
An understanding that is so complete,
you feel as if you are a part of the other person.
To accept the other person just the way they are,
not trying to change them to become somebody else.
Love is the source of unity.
Love is...
The freedom to pursue your own desires
while sharing your experiences with the other person.
The mutual growth of two seperate individuals,
standing along side one another, climbing the ladder upwards.
Love is the source of success.
Love is...
The excitement of planning of and doing things together.
Love is the source of the future.
Love is...
The fury of the storm followed by the calm of the rainbow.
Love is the source of passion.
Love is...
Giving and taking in a daily situation.
Being patient and understanding with each other's needs and desires.
Love is the source of sharing.
Love is...
Knowing that the other person
will always be with you reguardless of what happens.
Missing the other person when they are away,
but remaining near in heart at all times.
Love is...
The source of life.
Love is patient;
love is kind;
love is not envious or boastful,
arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on it's own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice in wrongdoing,
but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things,
belives all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never fails.
