My Artwork
Here are some scans of my art work and the pictures that they were done from. I am a technical drawer, so I draw the best from a picture. I have only had a small amount of art instruction. These drawings are the product of years of drawing horses. The most recent drawings are first, and the oldest are last.

This is a foal that I drew from a pic on a calendar. This was the first time I used a paper stump for shading.
This is a drawing of Honey that I did a week after she was put down. She is hanging her tongue out a little bit in the drawing, a typical Honey thing.
Here is a new drawing of Nu Nu. She's not quite finished yet.
This is a drawing of my Breyer Huckleberry Bey.
Click here for the finished version.This is a pendant of Honey that I made in jewelry class in my school. I used brass for her Palomino coloring and nickel for her blaze and forelock.
I made every single piece of this myself. The only thing I didn't do was solder the pieces of the horse together, because my teacher used it to demonstrate with.
The scan on the left is before it was polished, and the one on the right is after it was polished.

[6/4/99] I worked the almost whole time in school on this drawing (we were watching movies).
[6/8]I worked on it some more, and it's really coming along. I redid the rear hoof, because I wasn't that happy with it. I'm still not completely happy with it, though. The 2nd and 3rd thumbnails are of what I did today. The first program doesn't scan much detail, so I also did it in another program.
This is the same horse as below, but altered and colored in [4/27/99]. The teacher needed a blue horse, so I decided to do a realistically colored blue horse- a blue roan. I don't know if any drafters come in this color, though.
The scanner chopped off the neck a bit.
The teacher of my Child Care class asked me to draw her a horse for the kids, so I drew this one freehand. It is for a farm thing she said, so I figured that a draft horse would be good.
I think the neck came out a little too long, but it's extremely good for being something that I just drew out of my head, since I only draw from pictures [almost all of the time].
I just did this drawing of Honey today instead of participating in gym class....

This is a drawing that I am working on of Honey.
I had just started on the shading process in the first picture, which was drawing in the shading boundaries. Her front legs came out a tad long, but everything else came out really well, so I continued to work on her.
She was started on 3/7/99, and the first picture is after a very small amount of work was added on 3/8.
The second picture was last worked on on 3/10/99. The third picture was worked on during 3/22 and 3/23.
The fourth was done somewhere around April 8th.
I think she's done now.
I've had an idea of making a model horse drafter harness for a while, and I decided to draw a horse in a harness from a picture. I originally had just drawn in the collar and the other pieces, and I decided I should draw in the horse's head so I could make the bridle, too. I was not in a drawing mood at the time, but it came out pretty nice!
Here is a drawing of another horse that I know, Nu Nu. I redrew this larger on a poster which was for a 4-H contest, and it got a 95 and an 'Excellent'! I later went to the 4-H office to pick up the poster [they never said when the should be picked up] and they had thrown out all of the posters the week before!!!!!! I have had so much of my artwork thrown out accidently [and semi-accidently]. There's nothing like asking the art teacher at school for your work when you are on homebound instruction, and he gives the guidance office 4 out of 12 of your artwork. We had to get it after school was out, and the room was locked, and they wouldn't let someone take us up there to look for my other pieces! I'm going to stop my ranting now.... I'm way too aggravated about the whole thing.
This is from my sketch book, and you can see the drawing behind this one. That's that weird semi-circular line on her cheek!
The angle of Nu Nu's head isn't quite right, but the drawing came out spectacular!
Every time I look at this drawing, I just want to reach out and touch it- it looks so real! The muzzle looks just like velvet...

even though she only has half of a head and no feet!

This is a drawing of one of my favorite actors, Tyrone Power.
It's only a partial drawing, but it is a great start on learning how to draw people's faces!
This is a drawing from December 12, 1997. The picture is from around November of '97. This came out pretty nice. I think it looks neat without my face drawn in. I wasn't able to draw a nice face then, so I certainly couldn't draw a face on an angle then! I like the picture a lot. It's a nice shot of me and Honey, after I hadn't seen her in a month or so.
I was really bored one day in study hall last year...

I really like the picture of Honey that I drew this from. That was the best head shot that I had of her at the time. The drawing came out really nice, and I am amazed, because that was about November of 1997! I think that this was the start of my best drawings.
This was my first project for my Art 1 class in 9th grade. People say that hands are the hardest thing to draw, but I find them to be extremely easy! I only got 2 marking periods (1 semester) of art, because I was on "homebound instruction" for the rest of the year. I didn't get a lot of my artwork back from that teacher. I only got 5 pieces out of 12! The large version of this drawing is one of the pieces that I did not get back. For some reason, the computer decided not to include the entire drawing in the scan. The rest of the picture is the rest of the hand and the arm halfway up to the elbow.
Mr. Pekis, if you're out there, I want my artwork back!!!
I find it interesting that the first 2 pictures I put up are of Nu Nu and Honey. Those two horses HATE each other in real life!!!
I'll try to get some more pictures up here. These are the best so far, but it's interesting to look at older works, just to see how far I've come. Maybe I'll even put up some REALLY old drawings and embarrass myself. ;] Well, everybody has to start somewhere. I didn't start out this good! It took YEARS to get this good. I can remember drawing horses and Breyers in elementary school, and I'm in 10th grade now.
If only they would have put me a good art class in school....
Just imagine the possibilities.
