Chips
Challenge Total score as of July 4th, 1999: 5,738,430
I first
met Chip several years back when the game showed
up on the Best of Windows Entertainment Pack
(BOWEP) that came with a Windows upgrade that we
got for our "old" computer. I played
around with it and believe I spent a lot of time
trying to get past level 9--finding that hole in
the wall by the first force floor! Help came only
when I discovered the old Chips Bulletin Board
and we formed the MSN Charter Chipsters. Over two
years later and I am the only one of the MSN
Charter Chipsters who hasn't completed all 149
levels, but I am still embraced by the group! Oh,
and yes, I am addicted. I enjoy my Chips
Newsgroup or BBS much more than that of my
favorite soap opera, and that is saying a lot!
On a
personal level, I suppose I should first point
out that I am a true "southern girl"
hailing from Alabama. I the 2nd of five children,
and the oldest of two girls. am I was born right
at the end of WWII (I have started the second
half of my first century!).
I washed dishes
throughout high school to pay my tuition so I could
attend a Catholic girls' boarding school for high school,
and upon graduation, joined the convent of Benedictine
nuns who ran the school.
After 4 and a
half years there, I left and went to Auburn University in
southeastern Alabama to finish college and get my
teaching credentials. After graduation I worked on the
university campus, and soon met a guy named Jim on a
blind date. He was just back from Vietnam and working in
Auburn too. Two years later we were married, and nearly
two years after that were blessed with our miracle child,
Theresa. She was so tiny that we called her Teri; our one
and only is now 23 years old!
We
suffered the economic effects of the late 70's in
our air conditioning business, so moved to
Louisiana in 1981 so Jim could work in the oil
industry before it went bust. We still reside in
the 'burbs of New Orleans, and probably always
will! We still own our air conditioning and
appliance repair business, and that is where my
employment lies. A home office, telephone and
computer are the mainstay of my life these days.
Jim also works nights as a dealer at a local
casino riverboat; Teri works there in security.
Besides
the time I spend glued to the computer playing
with Chip and a few other games, (as well as the
time chatting with my Days of Our Lives buddies),
I love to sew and do cross stitch, crochet,
crafts, etc. I am also an avid reader, and have
also been known to play a little video poker,
blackjack, or craps in our local casinos!
My
charter chipster name is the Wanderer but I don't
recall who gave it to me. It came about because I
left MSN in a huff back in January of '97, but
missed my Chips Challenge Support Group so much,
that I came back after only a month! Various
computer troubles have also alienated me from the
group at times, so I just meander in and out of
this site. But always know that I am one of the
original Charter Chipsters, and that I ALWAYS
RETURN!
