One view of my Yorktowne Madness
A peek at my Yorktowne table

How did my Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne Madness begin?
Well...About five years ago, once I realized how old and rare my Enoch Wood's, English Scenery dinner set was, I started making a lot of noises about needing a different everyday dinnerware set.

By this time, my kitchen was already quite committed to blue and white and after browsing around I decided I really liked the simple country-elegance of the Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne pattern. It was dish-washer and microwave safe, and most pieces fared well in the oven as well. So..I let Santa know my choice.

Santa came through that year with two of basic 20-piece dinnerware sets. That was nice. I could set a pretty table for 8.

Next, of course I needed those little everyday, 'completer set' type items to match. That was easy enough to do.

For even the simplest of Dinnerware Sets, some Serving pieces are necessary, so they were the next pieces to be added.

I was able to set a fairly decent table with these pieces, but then things became more fun as I started to get more unusual pieces as part of gift sets, like the little syrup pitcher that came with a sampling of different flavored syrups and the ice cream plates that came witha gift set of ice cream toppings. In addition, each trip to our local 'Christmas tree Shop' netted still more fun matching items, like the spoon rest and the heart shaped bowls.

At this point I'd learned to keep my eye open for interesting matching pieces wherever I might find them, includung Thrift Shops. This habit rewarded me with my next batch of fun matching pieces.

And then... <Ta Da>...I discovered 'they' were selling Yorktowne on eBay! Yayus!!
Now my collecting began in earnest. My first goal was to get 8 pieces of each of the following place setting additions. My goal was realized. 8-)

I also acquired the following additions to the dinnerware set :

Last, but not least, eBay (not to mention my heroine, Janet, of LanetzLiving fame) offered me the chance to go 'whole-hog' Yorktowne all around my kitchen! These are probably the most fun pieces of all.

and my newest finds ...

I was going to create a section for the various sized plastic Ware pieces I've amassed, but I guess you all know what plastic ware looks like. Just imagine it with the Yorktowne design on it. <G>

A tip for other Yorktowne Lovers out there... besides having fun scouting out eBay for unique treasures , you can also keep an eye on the Pfaltzgraff site itself. Along with both those resources, I strongly suggest you call 1-800-777-1877 and request to receive their catalogue. Great prices and a smart way to make sure you're not bidding too high on certain items!

Guess I should have made 2 or 3 pages out of this, huh? Oh well..maybe later..especially if I ever manage to get that *Cake Plate and the Piggy Bank that are out there! ;-)
*I won the bid on the Cake Stand!

Thanks for looking...Kathy L
