WHAT DOES GOD KNOW ABOUT PAIN
    William Blair
    ©1998
All my life I've been trying
To live a life that is good and true
But I keep getting dumped on
So I figured God and I are through

What does God know about pain?
What does he see in the sunshine and rain?
    Does he care about me?
Way up there can he really see?

    (chorus)
    God's love is everlasting
His mercies are strong and true
    They are new every morning
    Tests come to strengthen you.

God knows all about your pain
He feels tears that are cried in the rain
From heaven's throne he can really see
He's always near to help you and me.

    A SONG IN TRIAL
    William Blair
    ©1998
    One cold, damp dark night
    At the midnight hour
Paul and Silas prayed and sang
    For God's holy power.

They sang so loud the other's heard
    The sweet melodious sound.
The doors flew open wide at God's holy Word
And His glory was known around.

David, a man true hearted and strong,
Yet for his life he had to run.
In the midst of toil and strife
He still had a song that he sung.

Sometimes of joy, sometimes of sorrow.
Still he trusted God for each tomorrow.
Over the hills it would ring
The sound of David's voice when he'd sing.

    CHORUS:
Sing a song in the good times (*)
Sing a song in the bad
A song sung in prayer to God
Will make the sad heart glad

    We can rejoice in trials
    Knowing we have won.
Christ paid the price for us all
So let His praises be sung.

    (tag [after last chorus])
    Sing in the judgment
    Sing in the blessing
Sing along on life's pilgrim highway
    Sing my child, sing (*)

    Sing in the good times
    Sing in the bad
Sing when things aren't going your way
And God's joy you will have

(repeat * - * and add for ending)
    Sing, oh my child, sing

    GOD'S GIFT OF FRIENDS
    William Blair
    ©1998
Friends are God's gift from Heaven
    To help and strengthen along.
    Good friends are around even
When the Oppressor comes in strong.

Friends are near when things are easy
Good friends are near when they're hard.
There with an ear to listen
Or a helpful word in a card.

    (chorus)
Christ is a friend that's closer than a brother
He's always around to lift us when we fall
His pain helps us trough our trials
And He's never far when we call.

Friends are God's gift from heaven
The perfect gift of His Son.
He paid the debt of my sin
And our friendship is number one.

    PRACTICING HIS PRESENCE
    William Blair
    ©1998
At times I have wandered away from the Lord
Trusting my feelings and not His Holy Word
My heart grows heavy, and I long for the sense
That only comes when I Practice His Presence

    Chorus 1:
    Practicing His Presence
    Is what we must do
    Without abiding in Him
We don't live as we ought to

    He gave us life
    For body and soul
    To be in His presence
    Is our ultimate goal

Have you wandered away from the Lord and His Word?
Then you've entered the battle without your sword.
He is your shield and your defense
His protection comes when you Practice His Presence

    Chorus 2:
    Practicing His presence
    Is what we must do
    To be totally faithful,
    Loyal and True

    When we're in the Word
    We easily sense
    The joy that comes
    When we PRACTICE HIS PRESENCE

    IS HE THERE?
    William Blair
    ©1998
When traveling down life's long road
You feel the weight of a heavy load.
    Wondering if God still cares,
You look around, but don't see him there

    Chorus:
    "I will never leave you"
    What He says is true.
    He records your tears,
    Every doubt, every fear
    Just look up above
    To heaven's eternal love.

When under the weight of sorrow you strain
Just look to the cross and see His pain
He'll take your burden, sorrows and all
To help you to grow and walk strong and tall

    Is He there?
    Does He care?
Will he this burden help me to bear?
He has not given the spirit of fear.
He every heart cry you make will hear.
    So walk on, walk strong
    In His arms you belong.

    ALONE
    William Blair
    ©1998
He stood alone in Pilate's hall.
He bore alone the sin for us all.

He walked alone up Calvary's hill.
He faced alone death's cold chill.

    All alone, all alone
    Christ hung there all alone.
    Even the Father couldn't bear
To look and watch his Son hang there.
    All alone, all alone
Our sins he came to bear.

All alone in a world so cold
With many outside of the fold.

We're not alone, not really alone
Christ's with us and his glory's known.

    Never alone, never alone
    We're never alone
With Christ so near we rest assured
We have power from His Holy Word.
    Never alone, never alone.
    In His arms we're secure.

    COME HOME
    William Blair
    ©1998
"Living my life" is what you say
Who needs the Bible, and who needs to pray
You go to church 'cause you have to
You do only what's "required of you."

You profess God in word and deed
But in your heart you "have no need"
"What's God ever done for me
I'll live my life and happy I'll be"

You say you're happy, but inside you're not
Your soul feels empty, and peace you haven't got
You're running away without leaving home.
Your heart's in a sway with no where to roam.
You need God's peace, but you won't accept it.
You need His love, but you just won't take it.
You don't believe that God's Word is true.
You need to see that He's calling you.

    Come home,
    My child, come home
    Oh! Won't you come home?

    DECISIONS
    William Blair
    ©1998
Making decisions in life is hard
    Wonder'n which way to go;
Left or right or up or down,
Most times we really don't know.

Is this God's will or is it not
    Tryin' to understand.
We want so hard to follow him
    And fill his perfect plan.

    God's perfect will
    God's perfect will
That's all we want to know.
    I'll follow Him
    I'll follow Him
    Where e're He'll go.
Our path is found within God's Word
He'll show us where to go.
    Study to show thyself approved.
    Then His will you'll know.
