Cornbread

CORNBREAD

Ingredient Amount
Flour 1 cup
Sugar 1/4 cup
Baking powder 4 tsp.
Salt 1/4 tsp.
Cornmeal, yellow 1 cup
Eggs 2
Milk 1 cup
Shortening, soft 1/4 cup


Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt; stir in cornmeal. Add eggs, milk and shortening. Beat with rotary or electric beater till jut smooth, about 1 minute (do not over beat). Pour into greased 9x9x2 inch pan. Bake @ 425° for 20-25 minutes.
