Ingredient | Serves 4 |
---|---|
Ground beef, lean | 1 pound |
Instant minced onion | 2 Tbsp |
Garlic salt | 1/2 tsp |
Frozen chopped spinach, thawed | 10 oz |
Breadcrumbs, seasoned | 1/4 cup |
Egg | 1 |
Water | 1 Tbsp |
Tomato sauce | 1 can (8 oz) |
Water | 1 1/2 cups |
Oregano, crumbled | 1 tsp |
Lightly combine ground round, onion, garlic salt, spinach, and bread crumbs in a large bowl. Beat egg with water in a small bowl; blend into beef mixture. Shape into balls, using one tablespoon of beef mixture per ball. Broil, just until brown, turning once.
Combine tomato sauce, water and oregano in large saucepan. Heat until mixture is boiling. Add broiled meatballs to sauce, one at a time. Heat to boiling; lower heat. Cover; simmer 30 minutes. Remove cover during last 10 minutes of cooking to allow sauce to thicken slightly. Skim fat from sauce, if necessary.
NOTE: Good served with spaghetti.
