CAT FOLKLORE

I love folklore and cats so I thought I would combine the two. This page focuses on cat folktales, myths, sayings or interesting facts. There are two sites that I particularly did like and recommend you visit while I work on this page:

Diabella loves cats and C.A.T.S. & World Mythology.
Links to these two pages can be found near the bottom of this page.

Sayings

If a black cat crosses your path it's bad luck. That seems to be the saying if you are in the United States. In England, if a black cat walks in front of you, then good luck will come your way.

"Whenever the cat of the house is black, the lasses of lovers will have no lack." (Old British saying)

"Those who don't like cats won't get handsome mates." (Old Dutch saying)

"All cats love a cushioned couch." (Theocritus, 270 B.C.)

"A cat is a lion in a jungle of small bushes." (English proverb)

"A cat may go to a monastery, but she still remains a cat." (Ethiopian saying)
