The maternal great grandparents of Florence were Mathias Harmon and Ellen Angelina Steele. Ellen Angela Steele was born in Tazewell County, VA on 21 January, 1854. She died 6 August, 1945 and is buried in Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Bluefield WV.
Ellen Angela Steele was the daughter of Richard Steele (born December, 1828 - died 25 January, 1904) and Cosby Johnson (born ca.1832, the daughter of John Johnson and Elizabeth Fletcher.)
Richard Steele was the son of Harvey Jacob Steele and his wife, Jane Asbury. Harvey Jacob Steele was born 1798-1799 in the part of Russell County VA that is present day Tazewell County, VA.( more will be shown on this family in a different section of this work.)
Harvey Jacob Steele was the son of Richard and Elenor (Marlow) Steele.
Florence was a dedicated researcher and a major contributor to Familie of Steel(e) Newsletter. She provided numerous primary records from Virginia and Missouri, none of which were her own family. She gave generously of herself and her time. Much of her research was previously published in Families of Steel(e) newsletter. Florence lived in Chillicothe, Missouri.
