This is the East end of Stratton Street,
just west of Midelburg Addition.

Taken through the windshield at the railroad crossing. To the left is the side entrance to the old G C Murphey Company This is what we lovingly called, "The middle dimestore." The front entrance was on Stratton Street. This building is now vacant. Looking straight ahead is the Harris (now Honaker) Funeral Home, which faces Main Street (Or what we used to call, "The back street.") At the end of the street, on the left side is the Aracoma Hotel. At the end of the street on the right, is the old Pioneer Hotel building. Rising above the funeral home in the background, (across the Guyan River) and on the hill, is the Logan General Hospital.

This is near where the Guyan Theatre once stood. The Guyan Theatre was built in the 1950s and was
a beautiful building with magnificent hand painted murals on the inside walls, depicting the history of Logan County, including Chief Logan (for whom the town was named.) There was also a painting of Princess Aracoma, for whom the town was first named.
The hill in the distance is City View (very appropriately named) where I lived and walked to Logan to school every day until tenth grade. This is a view of Stratton Street taken by Frances (Pierce) Hampson in 1983.
An unidentified friend in the foreground.
This was in 1980 across from the old Logan Banner Building.
(Near the fire station, which is on the left side of street.) That is Stratton Street, looking "down" (west) towards town
