Translated by Peter Gagné, a 3-volume work, French-Canadians of the West, encompasses 649 biographies of French-Canadians who made their mark on the western United States and Canada.

The University of Montréal-Programme de recherche en démographie historique. The population of Québec before 1800, a searchable database with both public and subscription features.
Postcards of Scotland-Electornic postcards give you the opportunity to send a bit of Scotland to a friend. Site was down for maintenance, March 2004.

The National Archives of Scotland contains pages just for the family historian. Important background information is available to help with historical perspective. Topics include items such as: adoption, crafts and trades, education, emigration, sasines, and many more.
Scots Origins from the General Register Office-search for birth, marriage, and death certificates on-line as well as 1861 and 1871 census entries (for a fee).
