Miss Annie M. Beach, 52 Butler avenue, one of the most talented young ladies on the West End has placed her name in the list of those who want to have a part in the "made in Bridgeport" [sic] movie which will be presented by the Cine-Art Motion Picture Productions, with offices in the Shalet building.

Miss Beach is just two inches over five feet in height and tips the scales at 97 pounds. She has a winsome personality and ability for self-expression that are so important in those who want to be movie successes.

Bridgeport's young ladies are keenly interested in this contest and of the competition doesn't bring out the handsomest and most stunning girl in Bridgeport everybody is going to be disappointed.

Every week for six weeks, six of the competing girls will be selected for filming in a reel to be shown the following week. At the close of six weeks the ten most efficient girls will be chosen by competent judges and these ten will take part in the big picture showing Bridgeport life as it is.

Going through the microfilm of the daily newspaper I found that there were many young girls who entered the contest hopeful of winning a role in the film. And though I have looked high and low for information about this contest and the movie that was to follow, I have not to date been able to find any additional information. I don't know who was chosen to appear in the movie or if in fact the movie was ever made! But I am ever hopeful!

One additional story which had been told over the years was that Anna was once Miss Bridgeport. I haven't been able to come up with too much on that one either. I do know that there was such a contest, at least in the early 1920s. So who knows, maybe it's true!
