JKP Arabians is a small farm located in Northwestern Pennsylvania
right off of I-80 in the little town of Knox that you may recognize as the “Horse Thief” capital of PA.
My husband John and I operate our breeding farm right here on the homestead where I grew up.
It is hard to believe that those childhood dreams I had while spending hours riding my pinto mare, Star,
would ever develop into the breeding farm that we now own.
As is typical of lots of girls, I grew up “loving” horses and always hoped that I would own at least one,
but I couldn’t have been luckier when I married my husband who got right into the idea of horses.
After many discussions and trying out some horses of different breeds, we finally found
what we were looking for in the loving disposition and beautiful grace of a Half-Arabian we acquired.
It wasn’t long until we were hooked on Arabians.
Our breeding program started with the beautiful Crabbet bred mare, Imarada (Radamason x Imaja).
We were so lucky to acquire Imarada when she was offered for sale as an older mare,
but she really did full-fill the advice that we had received about “buying the very best
that you can find even if it is an older mare.” You see,
Imarada had already earned the title of “Aristocrat Mare”.
She consistently passed on her beautiful head and excellent conformation.
We are very fortunate to still have two daughters and one son from Imarada.
It has been so much fun to watch our program grow from that one mare to a herd
that includes famous and well-respected names like:
Padrons Mahogany, *Padron, *Aladdinn, *Perkal, *Bask,
*Fairview Klassique, and El Shaklan to name a few.
We’ve had some “ups” and “downs” over the years…just as you have probably had.
It was especially devastating when we lost our outstanding stallion, Mahogany Gold,
but we’ve learned to go on and are so excited about a couple of his
young sons that are showing great potential.
We also have another surprise here at the farm…with our newly acquired
Quarter Horse cremello stallion, Siera Golden Sunrise.
He should make some awesome palomino and buckskin foals
when crossed with our beautiful Mahogany daughters.
