VELCRO
I needed cat food for Ishkabibble, and stopped at H&C Feeds where I usually do. As I pulled up into the parking lot, I thought about Ishy's need for company. I had been thinking about this for some time, and more or less had decided that the time was now.
I looked down into the box full of 6 week old kittens, and saw two bright eyes looking back at me. As I stood there watching I saw 2 white long haired kittens huddled in one corner and a black one asleep in another. In the middle was a litttle stripped tabby girl with white paws, and very bright eyes. She was pouncing on anything that moved. She attempted to climb the box sides. She kept looking at me, as if inviting me to pick her up.
I felt that Ishkabibble needed a little companion that would give him a real run for his money. I knew Ishy would be hostile to the idea of sharing his home with another animal, and this little girl looked like she would fill the bill just fine.
I picked her up and popped her into the cat carrier I had brought and took her home. The first thing she did when I arrived home was bounce over to Ishkabibble. The first thing he did was hump up, fuzz out, and hiss. She simply kept on bouncing. He stalked her all over the room for 4 days, then one day he tried to lick her. I knew, at this time, he had become a bachelor father. It took him a long time to figure out how to catch her, hold her still for a bath. Holding still was not one of her virtues, still isn't. She is a bouncy, pouncy, lively and energetic young lady who will take no guff off of Ishkabibble. When he tries to be a little aggressive (not in his nature) she immediately and effectively puts him in his place. Ishkabibble usually hides under the bed (basically he is a chicken). Velcro has never shown one single moment of fear toward Ishy.
