We wanted our second page to be for
(or maybe go to?) the dogs! Here they
are, in no special order. Each one is
special and totally different in their
personalities, even though they are for
the most part related.
This is "Brownie", my girl!
She's smart and quick, if a bit
neurotic! No-one is allowed to touch
her, except Dan or myself, And we can't
get rid of her! She's plastered to my
side at all times, demanding attention!
She loves hugs, coffee, sitting on the
porch, barking, jellybeans and apples!
Another one who can't be touched by anyone
outside of the family,(let alone LOOKED at)
is "Curly Suzette", better known as "The
Baby"! She is "Brownie's" full sister, see
the resembalence? She's bubbly and simple,
don't take that for dumb! She loves cats,
especially kittens, and takes it upon her-
self to protect them and play with them!
She loves her stuffed toys, especially Blue
Teddy, and has a whole collection!
I figured I'd put the "three you can't" together, before the "those you can!" It's my fault for not properly socializing them when they were pups, but circumstances at the time didn't allow for them to be carted around outside home. They're not snippy or anything, and they like company, once everyone is sitting down! Just don't touch! That's totally reserved for Mom and Dad, although a few friends are getting close to being accepted!
Well, now we come to Zachariah! Also
known as "The Best Boy","Black Dog!", "Riapan",
and a few others! Zach is a 9 year old Black Lab
rescued at about 7 weeks. We were a foster home to
him. Yeah right! Needless to say, 9 years later,
and he's still here! Zach loves everything and every-
one. He has a "leathal weapon" tail! He's also the
father of Brownie and the Baby. Mr."I didn't do any-
thing!, Who? Me?, Wasn't me who broke down the kitchen
door!" He protects the girls when they go outside,
and takes his duties seriously!
Then we have the newest arrival,"Dana".
She is a 4 year old German Shepard left
by the neighbors when they moved recently.
She's always lived on the other side of our
fence, and we always gave her treats, so it
wasn't too hard a move for her. I don't believe
in outside, chained up dogs. That's why she's a
bit of a dilema. She now lives in our yard, and
the other dogs have accepted that, but they aren't
going to go for an in the house move, like I was
hoping for. She's a smart, affectionate dog, with
the attention span of a gnat. And she can be pretty
rambunctious, she likes cats, but has a tendency
to want to squish them with her considerably large
paws! They don't like that much!
This is our beloved Karen. She's been "Daddys Dog" for over ten years.
It was love at first sight for them both.
This paragraph is a new addition, and carries sad news.
We lost our "Hundie" on the morning of January 8th,
eleven days from a diagnosis of lung cancer, every day
of which was precious. She was alert and gobbled her dinner
and treats the night before. She slipped away during the night
and will be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge,
where all good dogs wait for their people who love them.
We miss her terribly.
About two weeks before Karen showed any signs of being
ill, my friend Arlene twisted my arm (re: put the puppy
in my arms) and convinced me to rationalize "What's one more?"
Especially one that won't be much bigger than a cat!
It was a decision we haven't been sorry for, Minnie is
a joy. Through this time of loss, she manages
to make us laugh. And it's an added comfort that she
is a granddaughter of our
Karen (by way of her son "Shorty")
Minnie, (also known as Moo, don't ask why!) was
born Oct. the ninth. She's turning out to be quite
a little character. She may need her own page!
