Christianity

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." ~ John 3:16 (NIV)

Why don't people believe in God? There can only be two reasons when you clear away all of the excuses: 1) mental - they have either never heard of God or don't understand the basic concept of God, or 2) moral - they understand the basic concept but don't want to accept responsibility for the things they've done wrong or don't want to change their lifestyle.

Christianity explains four basic questions that most people need to ask in order to have a worldview: 1) How did everything get here? (Divine Creation); 2) Why is there evil in the world? (The Fall of Adam); 3) Why is "bad" punished and "good" rewarded? (Noah and the Flood); and 4) How do you explain the different nations of people on the earth/Why isn't everyone the same race or why doesn't everyone speak the same language? (The Tower of Babel)

So what do "Christians" believe?  There are so many groups of people who call themselves Christians or claim parts of Christianity as their own.  Also, many true Christians argue over an almost endless number of issues.  Christianity can be broken down into many denominations and beliefs, but in a nutshell, a Christian is someone who claims ALL of the core truths found in the following creed (The Apostles' Creed):

"I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

Creator of Heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our LORD.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

And born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again.

He ascended into Heaven

And is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The holy catholic [Christian] church,

The communion of saints,

The forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body,

And the life everlasting.

Amen."
