Easter (Spring) Hat Door Decoration

What You Need

li'l eggA straw hat, can be a craftsize from the craft store, but I used a full sized one from walmart, it was cheaper.
li'l eggFlowers, dried or silk. Eucalyptus is nice.
li'l eggRibbon.
li'l eggSmall plastic eggs, bunnies, chicks or other easter (or spring) decarations.
li'l eggGlue, hot glue works best.
li'l eggSmall sign or plaque that says "Happy Easter", "Welcome" or what ever you wish. (optional)

What To Do

li'l hatStart with the ribbon.Wrap it around the hat and glue in place. Add a bow to the bottom of desired.
li'l hatThe easiest way I know to make a bow is to wrap the ribbon twice around a piece of card. Cut a piece about the length of the card or slightly longer and lay it on top of the folded ribbon. Cut a third smaller piece (about 2-3 in.)Pinch the center of the bow and wrap the small piece around and either tie or glue in place. It should look like this:
bow
This looks even better with wider ribbon.(1&1/2 to 2 in.)
li'l hatNow place your flowers and other decotetions around the ribbon. I reccomend laying things out and experimenting with location a bit before you glue any thing down.
li'l hatFinally add your sign or plaque to the top.
li'l hatExperiment a little, I like the little mushroom birds you can purchase at Walmart or craft stores. You can also get premade little nests and things. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, it's your craft don't be afraid topersonalizeit the way you like it. And just remember you can always take things back off and cover up bare spots with more flowers.
li'l hatNow your hat is ready to display proudly on a door, to welcome guests into your home this spring.
