Moonshine's Intrigue ROM "Indy"

Sire: CH Meadow's Buckwheat

Dam: Sunny Oak's Elvira

Breeder/owner: Christine Cameron

Indy has been one of my sweetest Chows ever! Her favorite activity is to snuggle in your lap while you scratch her ears. If you stop petting she will remind you to continue with a gentle touch from her paw.

Indy has been an excellent producer with 8 babies in her first litter, 5 are now finished and one more puppy needs just a major to finish. Three years later I bred her again and she had only one puppy survive, Scamp (Moonshine's Silver Lining).

At the Golden State Chow Chow Club specialty in 1998 Indy went Winners Bitch for a 5 pt major under breeder judge Joan Egerton. Indy needs just 1 more point to finish her title. In 1999 Indy's son, CH Moonshine's Magic of the Night was BISS at the Golden State Chow Chow Club specialty under reknowned breeder/judge Hiroshi Takagi from Japan.

Indy was bred to CH Moonshine's Whiskey Man (Bud) and her two pups were born on 4-11-99. Below are some photos of her two babies. Moonshine's April Love (April)(female) and Moonshine's Straight Fromthe Heart (Spunky)(male):

It is with a heavy heart that I have to write that Indy died on Friday, 7-23-99. It was a totally senseless death. I received a call at 10:30 a.m. from my neighbor telling me that my black dog was out chasing my chickens. I rushed home to find Indy in the flower garden closest to the kennel. It was only 70 degrees at this time. I could tell by looking at her that she was dying. Her eyes were glazed and her tongue a very strange color & she was breathing rapidly. I picked her up and carried her into the house, put her on blue ice in front of fans and wet her down. When I took her temp it spiked the thermometer at 110 degrees! I knew there was no going back from that point. Brain damage as well as organ damage would have taken place. It only took about 15 minutes to get her temp down to 100 and for a very brief moment she focused her eyes, looked at me and wagged her tail before she died.

Indy is now chasing those darned chickens all over the Rainbow Bridge, playing with her babies that went before her and loving on my handsome Boomer. Indy was such a sweet, sweet girl and I miss her so much. "Indy wait for me!"

They will not go quiety,
The dogs that shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
We hear a barking at the door.
or step back when we drop
A tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
The food dish used to be.
And sometimes, coming home at night,
We miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
And a new food dish to fill.
That one place in our hearts
Belongs to them . . .
