When he was six years old, both of his kidneys shut down. He had never had any problems with them before. He spent numerous days in the hospital and underwent so many procedures during this time. You would think that a child at this age would be scared and would fight the nurses and doctors, but not Tyler. He would lay there and ask which arm when they would come in to draw blood or anything else they would need to do. He was put on a strict diet without salt and limited to his fluids. Tyler stuck to this. When he was able to return to school he refused to eat or drink because he knew he was on a special diet and didn't want to be sick anymore. I had to go and explain to him that he could eat because I had already spoke to them about his meals. Most children would cry and want things that they could not eat, but not Tyler.
He was a member of Pack 95 Boy Scouts of America. He couldn't participate in it like he wanted to but he gave it his all. He always seem to find the strength to do more than any one expected him to do. He was also a member ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was looking forward to being baptize the following month. He enjoyed going on Sundays and learning about Jesus.
There is so much that I could say about Tyler it would take forever for anyone to read, so I have included some of his pictures to help you get to know him. I will be changing or adding more pictures every now and then so be sure to check back again.
He was four months of age here. He always had that beautiful smile upon his face. |
He enjoyed playing t-ball every summer. This was taken about one week before his kidneys shut down. He was not a very strong hitter but he sure could run fast. He was known by the parents on the sidelines as "Speedy Gonzalas". |
He missed his kindergarten graduation when he was in the hospital with kidney failure, so the hospital gave him a graduation party and presented his diploma with gifts. |
This is the Christmas 1996 parade. Although he suffered with a lot of leg pain he was determined to march the entire mile. He was so proud to be a Cub Scout. He had earned the rank of Wolf. |
This was taken the day before he died. It was the last photo he ever took and it was with his class. |
