Welcome to my home on the Web.  I am glad you stopped in and I hope you'll enjoy your stay. I suppose I should start by telling a little bit about myself. I was born in Dothan, Alabama in 1956. I guess that tells my age if you care to do the math. I moved to Georgia when I was 6 and have lived in the Peach State since.

The photo above was taken of my husband and me dressed for his niece's wedding. (We were both members of the wedding party.) My husband is a captain with the fire department. Cute guy, huh? I think so, and he's awfully nice to boot. If my home caught on fire, he's the man I'd like to have carry me to safety! We married at the innocent age of 18 and celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2004.

If you don’t know me, perhaps you’re wondering what I do for a living. In March of 2004, I will begin my 24th year teaching elementary school. This picture was taken in my classroom several years ago. There’s a joke that says that there are three good reasons for teaching...June, July, and August. Well, that joke should really say something like...July and two weeks in June and August, EXCEPT for the time spent during the summer taking recertification classes or attending educational inservices, or upgrading degrees. But, this is not the reason I teach. I help to mold and shape the future. The young kids of today will, one day, be the adults of the world tomorrow. What other job could be more important than helping to build a better future?

I graduated from DeKalb College (DeKalb College is no longer DeKalb College. The name was officially changed to Georgia Perimeter College on July 1, 1998.) with a Liberal Arts degree. I earned a B.S. and my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. Graduating with my teaching degree in 1980 was a happy day! This is a picture of my granny and me on graduation day. Boy, that was a long time ago!
