Parker Pictures,
Old and New
Page Seven (of this
section)
It is Fall, and the weather hasn't become too cool. Parker is on
our back deck, pushing a toy he needs to sit in and ride. Parker
likes to push things, and it has helped him walk as quickly as he has.
We call this toy "Bert", because the red string on top and the face (which
you cannot see) look similar to Bert on Sesame Street. Parker has
not learned how to ride this toy yet, and he seems content with pushing
it across the deck.
Still
hasn't learned how to ride that thing... pushing and pushing and
lifting and pulling is all it's good for now... (Hey, between the
two pictures, it doesn't look like Parker moved. Oh, I see!
He didn't move; the building behind him did!)
And now, it is late
Fall, and some snow fell on the ground overnight. You are looking at
the first time Parker has encountered snow. And he's not doing too
badly, although he doesn't like to fall in it. It makes his mittens
wet and his hands cold, and he will complain until he's picked up. Here,
he is doing pretty well with negotiating the terrain. I bet that
face is nice and warm.
Parker, the great Arctic explorer, is wearing
a snow suit by Ralph Lauren, gloves from Neiman Marcus, and a snow hat
and mask by Nordstroms. The boots come from L.L. Bean, while Parker
himself comes from New Parents, Inc. Look how he braves the wild
and cold weather, not allowing the icy grip of Jack Frost to overcome him.
Look how the snow virtually melts away, as he intrepidly clears a path
to arrive to a more secure area. Look how the writer is trying to
make something out of a kid walking through an inch of snow, wearing a
hand-me-down from a parishioner in his stepfather's church. It is
TOO MUCH to bear, ISN'T IT?!?!
Although
it is still January and Wintertime, we were able to receive a rest from
the snow and cold. It sure was a beautiful day, when Parker and his
Daddy decided to tour the backyard and enjoy the warmth. It is funny
to watch Parker walk around in the yard. Sometimes he'll try to walk
all the way to the church. Sometimes he'll just meander near the
deck, going back and forth. However, regardless of where he may go,
he KNOWS when it is time to go inside, and he DOES NOT LIKE IT!
This is one of those times when Parker was
looking straight at me, looking oh-so cute, and I decided to take the picture.
As I aimed the camera, Parker looked away at the precise moment
I pushed the button. Oh well, it is still a nice picture, and I can
make up a subtitle about it, saying, "And here is Parker, trying to attempt
from the 10-meter board a half-gainer pike with a triple somersault and
a twist of lemon," or "Here's Parker leaving the garage after the interview
for the 'Head Mechanic' position," or "Doesn't he look good in red?!?"
