Question –
I have done a number of spreads concerning the man I am with. My readings ask about what his true feelings for me are, and/or if he will realize he really does love me. In both of these, I have been given either the ace of cups as the future, or the nine of swords. The sun frequently is the outcome card. The devil or tower also show up in these readings as does the star, knight of cups, two of cups and lovers. This contradiction confuses me. Can you help?
Answer -
The question you ask of the cards is layered and complex, even contradictory in itself. The most simple answer to finding a way around the repeating cards and contradicting futures is to make the question smaller or more direct. "How does he feel?" is VERY different than "Will he realize he loves me?" in many senses. For a fact, I can only think of one way in which I believe the two parts of your question would not contradict or preclude each other within a single answer. If your cards are after your edification, they may be playing on this point to get you to rephrase your question or rethink your intention or motivation in asking the question. Because you are reading for yourself, I tend to believe that this is very likely.
Contradictions within readings must be investigated. Many times they will point out warnings or admonitions "this or that will happen if you…".
Sometimes contradictions present choices rather than solid futures, offering extremes to the querent or reader to draw attention to the choices at hand. Also, contradictions can hail the future as pivotal on the querent or people in the situation.
