Question -

If the King of Wands appears as future is the card a person or an event? King of Wands keeps appearing so i take this that something "big" is going to happen. If it is a person what do they look like / do? As my books say the person is blonde others say they have dark hair. I'm completely confused! I'm single so thought it meant tall dark and handsome is coming my way!

Please read all of this response, returning to any interesting portions after reviewing the entire document.

Court cards can be very tricky. In general, as it seems you already know, they represent either a person or a human situation and/or condition. And it seems you also already know that cards which repeat are usually doing so to attract your attention, as well as the fact that reading the future is a complex and highly subjective thing most of the time.

Your king sitting so frequently as he does, in your future, could very well mean that someone is on the way to you. The physical traits assigned to the "people" of the suit cards vary somewhat by author of deck, but the symbolism and meanings vary only in their focus among most of the decks I have studied. Wands as a suit deal with physical matters and powerful people, so it is very likely that your king has more than one appearance in this world. I recommend looking for personality characteristics in the King of Wands rather than physical attributes.

I have found the web site http://www.learntarot.com to contain a lot of useful information and in-depth studies of the cards of the tarot bang alongside some exceptional online lessons and exercises. There is an analysis at the URL

http://www.learntarot.com/wkg.htm

concerning "pairing" cards with the King of Wands. If you have record of your previous readings, I highly recommend that you review them with the information from this site in mind. Also, in reviewing this site for "pairing" information I believe it would be prudent to consider what YOUR significator card is… who are you in the delightful cacophony of the Tarot? And what does your voice become when paired next to this King of Wands? If your significator card is not a court cart or an ace, you may still get good information from the suits pairing information. If your significator card is a Major Arcana, I have no uncomplicated suggestions for you at this time for a study of the "pairing" aspect, and I do apologize for that.

I have placed a series of layouts online to share during some Tarot discussions I have been running. They are brief and basic and their brevity can make them a bit challenging to understand at times. Since I am sharing my online space with a large group of people, I have had to put all of the spreads I use in one spot, though I do not mean to refer you to all of them in this response. Please be careful in using them since there are so many; I am only making reference to 3 of them directly for you (though you are certainly welcome to look at all of them over time). The URL for the page to which I am referring is:

If you are the kind of person who attracts many suitors and are interested in picking out this particular one from the crowd, I have some specific advice for you as regards your king:

http://geocities.datacellar.net/fullcircltribe/Tarot/beloved.gif

The "Beloved Spread" may help you discover more about what sort of relationship your king would offer you. It falls to you to decide if it is really what you want and which side of the heart represents whom in the reading. All indications I have received to now – assuming you are a suitor magnet – seem to say that "he" will come on very strong, so that "he" is there as the cards may be saying, but the cards may be warning you rather than celebrating the presence. My recommendation is that you study the results of this spread with special attention to YOUR side of the heart shape. What does the relationship with your king compel you to become? Is it something you want to be?

If you are the kind of person who seems to need to put your self into a searching mode to pick your suitor(s) from the general population, I can suggest the "Matter Spread" to help you recognize your king:

http://geocities.datacellar.net/fullcircltribe/Tarot/matter.gif

This spread is very brief and is designed to pick at the topic [in this case the King of Wands] to give only the most stark, notable, or persistently present features. This particular spread is rather vague on the site, so I will recommend using the cards in their same placements and elaborate on the reading of the placements as follows:

1 – The things you will find in "him" which you can see through most easily. "His" mask, "his" initial presentation.

2 – "His" recent past or things about "him" which are rapidly changing.

3 – "His" direction, the path "he" proclaims to be taking in "his" life.

4 – Things which are most meaningful to "him". The things which touch "his" heart and motivate "his" actions.

My indications regarding your king – assuming you are a suitor probe – indicate that "he" would be very forthright with you, so the matter discussed in this reading should become evident even through the most basic interview. My recommendation is that you get this information from the reading, start comparing, and Keep Your Eyes and Options Open. It seems that the king is on "his" way, but that does not mean that there will be no other opportunities to look at in the same timeframe! The king seems there to guide you, to lead you into discovering who you want to be with; "he" may be a helper to get you thinking, or the "friend of" some one meant for you. I cannot quite tell based on the information in your question.

NOTE: Please do not use both pieces of advice from above without careful discretion, as that is akin to asking the cards to confuse you! If you feel a deep need to use both readings, please notice that the perspectives are different; in the first "he" is approaching you, in the second you are finding "him". If you can alter the "off" reading according to that information, then I see no problem using both to recognize your king.

Because I have not seen your initial readings for myself and since I do not know what your main deck is or which layout you use most frequently, I cannot say for certain that your king indicates a future association for you. Therefore, I also recommend that after you do whichever analysis above seems to suit your situation the best, you re-throw with the "Celtic Cross with items (variation)", removing your king from the deck for this reading:

http://geocities.datacellar.net/fullcircltribe/Tarot/crossplus.gif

The main feature and difference of this reading from the original Celtic Cross is that it does not read future events. At this point, knowing as much as you do concerning the future and its events, this reading is recommended to help you focus on the now. Very often the now and characteristics of the now which yield a view on possibility and likelihood will allow a deeper understanding of the future. In many cases, this perspective can help guide us through the events from now to the future, leading to a better outcome! In your case, we can hope that the depth of this study will give you the perspective to knowing whether your king is an event or circumstance rather than the person that "he" seems to be.
