I went to a nightclub here in Austin called "Dallas". I was supposed to be meeting a friend, but after four beers and two hours later and still no friend, I circled one last time around the club, and started to head out the door. Then I heard, "Hi, my name is Donnie, wanna dance?"
That was all it took, we danced one or two songs, and we started talking. I remember he looked great his wranglers. He has what most call dirty blonde hair, big blue eyes, and a smile worth a million dollars (to me anyways). He was tall, about 6'2, which is perfect for my 6 foot frame. He wanted to show me his brand new truck, and he knew I was thinking a Ford or Chevy full size. Outside was a huge 18 wheeler with a trailer still hitched. Donnie was a truck driver staying the night over in Austin, and his daddy, his co-driver, was at a motel sleeping.
Donnie is from Carrizo Springs, Texas, a small border town between Laredo and Del Rio. He went to high school at Carrizo Springs High and graduated in 1992. We taken many many trips to Carrizo, mainly to get away from the "city" and hang out with our friends Juan and Cele. Donnie is the oldest of 6 children, and is the only one adopted. His mom lives in Donna, Texas and his Daddy lives in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Donnie has two half brothers in Mexico.
Currently, Donnie is working as a sales consultant at Henna Chevrolet in Austin, Texas. He's been there for about a year and half. He loves it. Although he works long hours, the job has some "perks". Its nice to be able to have a choice in the vehicles he drives, when we take either a surburban or tahoe on trips.
Donnie has a few projects in the works. He wants to have his nose and jaw re-aligned from a wreck he had a few years back. He broke his neck, but has since recovered from that injury to the surprise of his doctors in San Antonio, Texas where he was treated. Hopefully, it won't be too long until he gets that surgery done. I, personally, think he looks great the way he is, but its something he wants to do.
