Training Ministers
l. to r. Robert Fertado, Donald O'Keefe, Pastor Jack Edwards, Steve Kerr and Dennis Rawski
“The ministry of training young men to be preachers has fell the lot of Pittsburg Church. The saints agreed to put up with their failures until they were perfected.
First one to leave and start a church was Donald Hugh O'Keefe who went to Antioch, California and started a good work which is still thriving today.
Martinez, California was next, with Dennis Rawski, who God blessed with a good building cheap. The Pittsburg Church for a year held two services a week there to help him get started.
Benicia, California every house was door knocked, and Pittsburg Church went twice a week and held services to help Robert Fertado get started. There is still a church in Benicia after 14 plus years.
Then there was Walnut Creek where Steve Kerr spent ten years.
Rodeo, California was blessed with a church by a minister from Pittsburg as its sponsor. Steve Vaughn bought a building and started holding services. Today there is a good church still in that city.
Sonora, California needed a pastor and Pittsburg sent Gary Olive there to pastor.
The history of the church in Acts covers about 29/30 years and covered the then known world. After 40 plus years in Pittsburg we
are still not producing enough souls!!! YET THANK GOD FOR ALLOWING US TO BE A PART OF HIS KINGDOM ON EARTH.”
Jack Edwards, Pastor
