WELCOME TO MY
POEMS AND STORIES PAGE
Here are some poems from one of my favorite Authors, Shel Silverman. I love his books! I will also be adding more poems and quotes as well as stories when I find them. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do !!!!
The Voice
There is a voice inside of you
that whispers all day long,
" I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong."
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man Can decide
What's right for you - just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.
BODY LANGUAGE
Said my feet, "Hey, Let's go dancin'. "
Said my tongue, "Let's have a snack."
Said my brain, "Let's read a good book."
Said my eyes, "Let's take a nap."
Said my legs, "Let's just go walkin'."
Said my back, "Let's take a ride."
Said my seat, "Well, I'll just sit right here,
Till all of you decide."
COLORS
My skin is kind of brownish.
Pinkish yellowish white.
My eyes are greyish blueish green,
But I'm told they look orange in the night.
My hair is reddish blondish brown,
But it's silver when it's wet.
And all the colors I am inside.
Have not been invented yet.
EARLY BIRD
Oh, if your a bird, be an early bird
And catch the worm for your breakfast plate.
If you're a bird, be an early early bird -
But if you're a worm, sleep late.
INVENTION
I've done it, I've done it!
Guess what I've done!!
Invented a light that plugs into the sun.
The sun is bright enough,
The bulb is strong enough,
But, oh, there's only one thing wrong...
The cord ain't long enough.
SICK
"I cannot go to school today," said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps, a gash, a rash and purple bumps. My mouth is wet,
my throat is dry,I'm going blind in my right eye. My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken poxs and there's one more - that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green ??? My leg is cut, my eyes are blue -
It might be "instamatic flu". I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke, I'm sure that my left leg is broke -
My hip hurts when I move my chin, my belly button is caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle sprained, my 'pendix pains each time it rains !
My nose is cold, my toes are numb, I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff , my voice is weak, I hardly whisper when I speak.
My toungue is filling up my mouth, I think my hair is falling out
My elbow is bent, my sprain ain't straight, my temperature is 108.
My brain is shrunk,I cannot hear, there is a hole inside my ear
I have a hang nail, and my heart is - WHAT?
Whats that?? What's that you say ??
You say today is... SATURDAY ??
Goodbye, I'm going out to play !"
"Pooh, promise me you won't forget about me, ever.
Not even when I'm a hundred."
Pooh thought for a little while.
"How old shall I be then?"
"Ninety-six"
Pooh nodded. " I promise," he said
Silly old bear," laughed Christopher Robin.
"Just remember that even if we're apart,I'll always be with you."
"Promise me you'll always remember : You're braver than you believe,
And stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
