THEN

My father was born Rolla Taylor at Litcar in Knott county Kentucky, he got his name from the city in Missouri were his father turned back in his adventure out west and returned to Knott County.
My mother was born Thelma Stevens,  In Oklahoma City her parents soon returned to the Martin Kentucky area yes the hills are hard to leave but in modern times were are able to leave and return from time to time to see the hills from wince we came.

A trip down the Kentucky river on a log raft to start an adventure to the far west that ends in a fight with the law Culbert Taylor returns to Knott county settles down to raise a family but goes to West Virginia were he is killed in a coal mine explosion. His kids are sent to live with an abusive brother who uses the kids as slaves on his farm. He writes the mother of the children that they have died  while at the Hindman settlement school. Yes I have a novel of life in coal fields I hope to have the time to put it all on paper some day,
