Just getting ready for a typical day out
at a Dog Agility Competition Trial.
Agility
training strengthens the bond between dog and handler,
and provides fun and exercise for both.
KIRA CD
ADM JDM
Here I come. am nearly there..
I made it.
Where are you mum? Weaving
My great dog Kira, she flies through the weaving and as you can see she enjoys jumping, who needs a
handler!!! She loved agility had her CD(Companion Dog) title in obedience, SUCCESS we finally obtained our ADM (Agility Dog Masters)on the 14th July 2001 (Yippee). To get these titles you have to pass 3 competition trials in AD, 5 trials for your ADX title and 7 trials for your ADM getting a clear round and doing it in the time allocated.
We have also done Jumpers and we have obtained our JDM(Jumpers Dog Masters) title, where you have to pass 7 trials going clear and getting it in the time!!! I relied on my dog finishing first as I was invariably way behind!!!!!!!!!! It required a lot of hard work and patience but it had been fun competing with her. I never knew what Kira was going to do when in the Trial ring as she liked to keep me on my toes and not take her for granted. She retired when she was 11 yrs old and passed away peacefully in her sleep January 2009 aged 14 years.
Then there was our other dog Jenah(passed away early 2008) she was affectionately called "The Rocket Rat" as she flew around the course as you can see she loved doing it and that size doesn't matter. If you are wondering where she is in the photo she is the little black dot going over the middle of the jump!
In August 2007 I got a lovely little male German Coolie pup who I called Ashwyn, he is such a good natured dog and lovely to train, we hope to compete in obedience & agility this year 2009
When competing in Agility you have to do a number of obstacles in the time frame set by the judge some of the obstacles you do are the following.
tyre: .. triple jump
Spread:.... A Frame,..
To obtain your AD (Agility Dog) Title you have to go round a course of 14-16 obstacles
To obtain your ADX (Agility Dog Excellent) Title you have to go round a course of 14 - 20 obstacles
To obtain your Masters Title you have to go round a course of 20-22 obstacles
As well as doing any of the above you are also running against the clock and you must go clear!
