One question that repeatedly appears
in the newsgroups: 'how to give an image the appearance as if it's been painted
on linen (, or wood, or canvas or any structure)?'. Here's one way to do that in PSP5 or PSP6. |
|
Open the image you want to work on. As usual, do Shift-D to copy your image, and close the original so you don't accidently overwrite it!
Open the layer palette: there's only the
background now. Double-click it to promote it to a regular layer |
|
In the dialog box you get now, set the Blend Mode to 'Multiply', and leave the rest unchanged.
In the layer palette right-click, and choose 'New Raster Layer'.
Now drag and drop Layer 1 (the original background) on top of layer 2.
See to it that you have Layer 2 selected.
Now with the browser go to the Textures or the Patterns directory (PSP6) or, in PSP5, to the Papers directory and open (as an image) the texture or pattern you want to use for the 'background' |
|
In the Menu bar select 'Flood Fill' (the little blue bucket), and in the Tool Options select 'Pattern' and as the New pattern source in the drop down menu choose the image you just opened as the background source.
Now, with layer 2 still selected, apply your flood fill, and you'll get more or less this result.
In the layer palette you can now move the
slider for layer 2's opacity, until you're satisfied with the result. Once you are, you can go to Menu > Layers > Merge > Merge all. |
|
And this would be your final result.
Note: this was done in PSP6. In PSP5 the menus and windows may appear different, but the options are all there! I hope I've helped you with this little tutorial! |
