New York City Relief is a ministry to the homeless of New York City. It was founded by my father over 7 years ago. Every week day the N.Y.C.R. staff drive into the city in a mobile medical resource bus. The bus parks in a diffrent location depending on what day of the week it is. Some of their stops include Harlem and the bus depot. We have worked on the bus serving soup or drinks as well as ministering and praying for the hurting people as they enjoy a free meal.
This is the ministry bus before it was finished being painted. The front of the bus is used as a counseling office set up with a computer and cell phone to place those who need help in housing, rehabilition programs, hospitals and churches. The center of the bus is where we would distribute fresh bread, soup, drinks and sometimes clothes and Christmas presents. The back is set up like a doctors office where a nurse takes care of their medical needs from refering them to a hospital to be treated for AIDS to washing there dirty bare feet.
THE BOWERY MISSION
I spent one week at the Bowery Mission with a friend to help with many of their needs. It is the oldest mission in New York City.
CHRISTIAN URBAN PARTNERSHIP
C.U.P. plans large scale outreaches involving hundreds of churches of many denominations.
Every New Years Eve when the ball goes down, we make sure thousands of tracts are passed out to all the people you see waving those long balloons. We have teams set up on almost every corner surrounding Times Square giving out free hot chocolate and tracts.
We would have a huge shindig in Central Park on the 4th of July with live Christian music, evangelistic dramas and free food for the public.
For the Easter Parade we would have many stages set up all along the street with actors portraying the scenes leading up to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
My job was to assist in organizing the outreaches and help connect the hundreds that were reached with the gospel to a local church.
