Instructions:
-
Carefully peal any labels off the milk jug to avoid a 2% milk fat lion.
-
Remove the lid and spray paint the jug brown. It would be a good idea to do this before hand to give the paint a chance to dry.
-
Use a large nail or the end of a pair of scissors to poke a hole large enough to accomodate the rope in the bottom of the milk jug near the center.
-
Tie a knot approximately two and a half inches from the end of the yellow rope and fray those two and a half inches.
-
Push the end of the rope without the knot through the hole in the bottom of the milk jug. Remove the lid and pull the rope out the top of the jug. Tie a large knot near the end. This will prevent Leo from becoming separated from his tail.
-
Use the compass to draw 8", 6", and 4" circles on brown, orange and yellow construction paper. On the 4" circle, draw two arcs on the outside edge to become ears. Cut the circles out.
-
Center the three circles, one on top of the other, so that the largest one is on the bottom, and the smallest one (with ears) is on top. Glue them in place.
-
Once the glue has dried, fray the edges of the disc with the scissors to create a "mane" around Leo's face.
-
Put your creativity to use and, with the markers, give Leo his face.
-
Glue the face on the edge of the milk jug opposite the handle and let dry. (A quick tip: Don't lay Leo on his face for the glue to dry. It will soak through the construction paper and cause the marker to bleed and/or the paper to tear.)
To make Leo roar, feed his tail up through the hole on the bottom of the milk jug. When you pull the tail back out, you can hear him come to life with a mighty roar!
