East Tennessee Collie Club
August, 2001

Meeting Notice:
The ETCC will meet on Wednesday, August, 2001, at the UTCVM in room A115. All members are encouraged to attend. We are going to vote on amendments to the constitution and the AKC requires an account of the numbers of voting members and board members. We will also be discussing the status and progress of our first specialty show that is tentatively scheduled for this fall at the November Smoky Mountain Cluster.

Member News:
The paperwork has been sent to AKC and to MB-F for our shows on November2 and November 3, 2001.  It promises to be a very busy time for us all come show time, but it will pay off in the long run. Talk up the shows anywhere you go this summer. New location, all one level, plenty of parking and 6shows,with 5 specialty judges   in 4 days.  If you hear from friends far away, mention it tothem.Thepotential for that many majors could make a long trip worth while.

Babbi Dilbeck reports that Ballochmyle's You're So Vain, CGC, NA, NAJ (aka, Carleigh the One-Eyed Wonder Collie, pictured on the right) has FINALLY broken the ice in the AKC Open Standard agility ring! After many, many attempts (25 or so) Carleigh got her very first qualifying run in Perry, GA on July 15. Carleigh was most impressed with the facility especially the air conditioning! Carleigh now has 2 legs in Open Jumpers With Weaves (one more for the title) and 1 leg in Open Standard. Carleigh will try to keep her hot streak going (and HOT it will BE!) in Lexington, KY on Labor Day weekend and then on to the TVKC trials in Harriman on Sept. 8 & 9. Come by to cheer us on if you're in the vicinity!

Mom (Babbi) also has a small brag. Babbi was the recipient of the AKC scholarship award for veterinary students. The applicants were required to submit a personal profile outlining their interest in purebred dogs. Two awards were givento UTCVM students.

On 7/14/01 she earned her HRD I (Herding Ranch Dog I) title fromthe American Herding Breeds Assoc. with a score of 83/90. A score of 63/90or better is passing. She is co-owned between Dennis Caldwell (who does theconformation) and Ericka Wojack (who does the herding).
More news from Spruce Meadow: Spruce Meadow's Right On Key (Ebony) was winners bitch both days, for 1 point each, that she was entered at the Greenville, SC shows. Her brother, Spruce Medo's Got The Hooch (Hooch) was winners dog and best of winners for a point the second day.

Dennis is requesting help for the B-Match in September. He says, "
I need all the help I can get at these matches. My friends that always help me with the matches there will be in VA that day at a wedding, so I'll be alone.I need setup help and maybe help selling food, but the food may be takencare of my one of the Cherokee members, we'll see. The collie match shouldbe at 10 AM so it'll be done in time for the all breed match at noon. I'llbe there no later than 8:30 to set up the rings and stuff.
