My father, John Sansom, was the oldest son of William Sansom, who lived & died in old VIrginia, King William co. My mother, Jane Sansom, was the 2nd daughter to Alexander Miller, who imigrated from Ireland a few years before her birth, & settled in Virginia, Agusta co, where my mother (in time) Married David Edmiston, to whom she bore five children, Alex--David--Ann--John & James, &. after moving to N. Carolina Mecklinburg co, died, after which my mother moved to S. Carolina, and my father came from Virginia, a young man, &, in time, married My mother, who bore him five children, Nancy--William--Sam^l D--Hannah M & Andrew, the two last of which died young. My father fought through all the Revolutionary War, till near the close when he fell, in defense of his country." --My mother lived to see all her children imbrace Religion & all married--her oldest son, David, to Margaret H. Logan, a cousin, her oldest daughter, Ann, to David Presley, her 2nd son, John, to Elisabeth Robinson, a cousin, her 3rd son, James, to Nancy Keown, her oldest daughter (to Sansom) Nancy, to John C. McAda, her two youngest sons, William & Sam^l D., to two sisters, daughters to Thomas Lackey, Jane and Elisabeth,--Elisabeth, wife of Sam^l D--has borne, to him, fourteen children, all living at this time (1842) excepting two who died in infancy, one eight days old, the other stillborn, the names of the living are, Jane M.--Betsyann--James E.--William P.--Rachel L.-- Thirza G.--Sam^l D.--Thomas L.--John W.--Sarah Q.--Martha M.-- Amanda S.--This is a sketch of your ancestry--to Sam^l D.
