My father, John Sansom, was the oldest son of William Sansom, who lived & died in old VIrginia, King William co. My mother, Jane Sansom, was the 2nd daughter to Alexander Miller, who imigrated from Ireland a few years before her birth, & settled in Virginia, Agusta co, where my mother (in time) Married David Edmiston, to whom she bore five children, Alex--David--Ann--John & James, &. after moving to N. Carolina Mecklinburg co, died, after which my mother moved to S. Carolina, and my father came from Virginia, a young man, &, in time, married My mother, who bore him five children, Nancy--William--Saml D--Hannah M & Andrew, the two last of which died young. My father fought through all the Revolutionary War, till near the close when he fell, in defense of his country." --My mother lived to see all her children imbrace Religion & all married--her oldest son, David, to Margaret H. Logan, a cousin, her oldest daughter, Ann, to David Presley, her 2nd son, John, to Elisabeth Robinson, a cousin, her 3rd son, James, to Nancy Keown, her oldest daughter (to Sansom) Nancy, to John C.
