Spinning
I spin all my own wool, and at present have so much stored in the top of my studio, ready for me to start on, that it will most likely take me the rest of my life to get through it! Not to mention the wool that my sheep are currently growing for me. I usually check out the fleeces when we change the coats. Its always so different. What last years colours were are usually no longer, as the black wool is going grey, and the dark brown moorit wool is slowly turning to champaine.
I dye my own wool, and overdye a lot of the naturally coloured wool. My favorite way of dying is to rainbow dye. I just love to see the many colours. I do this in the microwave oven.
When I spin with the rainbow colours, I split the sliver/roving and use two spinning wheels to make sure I get the colours to match. This is the only way I can get the colours to work for me. I have also used this method to spin different natural coloured fleece, and produced a 'natural rainbow' .
All my wool, spinning and crafts live over in my studio, away from the house. This way I don't mess up the house too much. Well not too much anyway! Every now and again I have to take things back from the house and start the big sort-out again

Knitting
I liked to say I had plenty of spare time, and did most of my knitting then! These days, I have done mostly small items for my grandaughter,Andrea. I have a moorit tam halfway done, and am currently spining some moorit wool to overdye for a cardigan for myslelf. This will probably change as it gets closer to winter and I find out Andrea is in need of some warmth.
