DECEMBER 2004
December already - we can hardly believe it.  This time last year everything was so different.  June was heavily pregnant for one thing, Dave was working hard with the Christmas post and no baby in sight!

On 4th December Auntie Lee came to visit and with Mummy took Alex to the big wheel in Princes Street Gardens and then on the carosel horses.  Alex was not frightened at all and whooped with delight in fact.  Last year June went on the big wheel at this time and it was funny to reflect that now here he is along with me.

Another big milestone occured on 7th December - Alex pulled himself up to standing holding onto the furniture.
The next two weeks Alex has been really off colour with a bad cough and hardly crawled, made any noises or played but the Dr said he just had a cold and didn't have anything in his chest.  We took Alex in specially to see Santa at nursery (as he was actually off sick that day) and he seemed to perk up a bit being with all his little friends.

He was not frightened at all of Santa and sat happily on his knee.  After nursery Nicholas (and his Mum) Kirsty came round and the boys played happily for ages.

On 19th December Alex was the star of the show in the Sunday School nativity play.  He was a lamb (they had made masks the week before at Sunday School) but he wouldn't have it near his face) so we dressed him in a white snowsuit, white cardigan and white hat.  He sat beside the others in the nativity scene, clapped his hands when they sang the songs and didn't crawl away.  Everyone thought he did wonderfully and people were lining up afterwards to give him a congratualatory cuddle!

On the way back from Church however we think the buggy hit a rock and over tumbled Mummy and baby.  We both got a big fright but apart from some bumps and bruises (mostly mine) we were both ok.

On 20th Dec Alex went to play with his friend Jack and had a good time.

Alex's 1st Christmas
Alex woke up at 5am on Christmas morning, but was soon purseuded by a bottle and a nappy change that he need another little nap. (i'm sure that's the last year that will happen).  He got up at 9am and had his breakfast then discovered that Santa had been.

Santa had brought Alex a little car, a jigsaw book and some little toys.

It took him 2.5 hours to open all his parcels (so many people were so generous) and we think he was a bit overawed by it all).  He played with the wrapping paper but once he realised there was something inside like a toy he could lay with he was excited about that too.

Alex had his Christmas dinner sitting up in his highchair beside Mummy and Daddy at the dining room table and ate everything that we did - ham, roast potatoe, carrots, green beans, sweetcorn and even a wee bit of yorkshire pudding.  Lemon Pavlova for pudding.

We went up to see Grandma and Grandad J in the evening but they were both so full of the cold that Alex didn't stay with them as planned.

It was a brilliant first Christmas!
