February 2004
On the 1st of February Alex was christened during the family church service at Liberton Northfield Parish Church on Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh.  We had joined this church, transferring from Fairmilehead (where we were married on 22nd September 2001) in October 2003, and already we had been made to feel at home and very welcome. The service was particularly special as Grandad J would be going through his operation to have his tumor removed the next day. There is a link to the Church website below.

Reverend McPake conducted a lovely service and once Alex had been baptised he carried him round the Church for the whole congregation to see.  We enjoyed tea and buns afterwards in the Church hall.

11th February was Alex's first day in "real nappies".  We are using a variety of terry squares and some new shaped nappies such as "Totsbots", "Ellas House", "Kooshies" - see real nappy links below.  We are really keen to use real nappies, not only for the environmental benefits but how happy would any adult be about wearing paper pants every day?

12th Feb - Alex slept from 11.45pm to 8.15am - we were amazed and couldn't get over this - at 5 weeks old was this possible?

On Friday 13th Feb we got the fantastic news that Grandad J had the all clear - he was cured of cancer!

Then on the 15th of Feb, Mummy and Daddy had their first outing as June & Dave - we went off for a meal for a late Valentines Day celebration - Grandma J was the first official babysitter for the evening and everyone seemed to have a good time - Mummy & Daddy didn't phone home once.

Alex and Mummy had their 6 week check on 17th Feb - everything fine with both of us.   On the 20th of Feb we started Alex's bedtime routine, bath, bottle, story and bed and moved Alex's moses basket into his own room into his cot.  He is such a noisy sleeper it seemed a good deal all round for him to be in his own room and as he was growing fast out of the moses basket - we felt the sooner he got used to his cot the better.

On 28th Feb Alex went to his first party - Robyn (7) and Samantha (4)  joint birthdays.  He seemed to enjoy the music and when the children were dancing he looked on with interest.
