JANUARY 2004
Mummy had the "baby blues" on the Tuesday - which was horrible! and coupled with difficulties in feeding Alex - who just didn't seem to know how to suck, we spent a few days in hospital hoping to be able to suss the breastfeeding out - but on 8th of Jan decided that enough was enough and Alex had to go onto SMA formula milk full-time as he was receiving formula top-ups due to blood sugar yo-yoing up and down.
We came home from hospital on the 8th of January and that same day receiving devestating news that June's Dad, Harry, had stomach cancer, various hospital appointments followed for 'Grandad J' and it was decided by the consultants that he must have surgery to remove his tumour and stomach within weeks.
The Community midwife team came in to see us for home visits to check Mum & Baby were progressing nicely and we have to say that we couldn't speak highly enough of our midwifes - they were supportive and encouraging.
We had our first "family" outing on 12th January to the Registrar's Office in Victoria Street to register Alex's birth. Then with the official birth certificate in hand we proceeded on to open a bank account for him and celebrated our outing with a burger!
Grandma S came up to visit on the 16th of January followed by Grandad and Nana Savage on the 19th.
Our health visitor Lisa came to see us on the 19th of January and officially handed us the "Red Book" in which Alex's weigh, height, and progress will be recorded for the next years - up to school age. We made our first visit to the baby clinic on 22nd January.
We met Kirsty and Nicholas (who was born the same day as Alex) on 25th January at Cameron Toll Shopping Centre for a coffee & a chat. Then Daddy went back to work after his paternity leave and holidays on 27th January.
