JULY 2004 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On 3rd July we went on holiday to Tain in Ross-shire (North East Scotland) for a week and stayed in caravan 16 (a static caravan) at Dornoch Firth Caravan Park. June had stayed here as a girl so it was nice to be able to take Alex there. We went with Grandma and Grandad J. Alex slept most of the journey up (3 hours) until just outside Inverness. We visited our friend Lyndsey who lives just outside Inverness and fed and changed Alex and were treated to burger rolls for lunch. Lyndsey has a black labrador called Sam and Alex really enjoyed trying to stroke his fur. The weather was not brilliant at the start of the week, but got better as the week went on. We took Alex swimming in Golspie swimming pool on Monday, he liked it very much, we borrowed a baby float and he enjoyed seeing everything. We enjoyed watching the birds and seals at Loch Fleet again this year. We went to Inverness on Tuesday and walked round then on Wed we went to Embo and to the beach there - it was a lovely warm but not too hot day, took Alex down to the water and went paddling until he protested (TOO COLD). We built sandcastles for him, and he didn't quite know what to make of the sand below his toes, but he didn't try to pick it up. We met another couple and their 5 month old baby Amy at the beach and they sat together for a while. We went to the Clan Gunn heritage centre at Latheron, as Mummy is originally from the clan Gunn. We discovered that Daddy was a Gunn too - via Robinson, so that was interesting. We then went to John O'Groats, to Wick and Thurso. We came home on Sat 10th July. We had a fairly quiet week when we got home, and went swimming midweek to Gracemount - Alex still loves swimming. Mummy attended the summer school at the local community centre in the week of 19th July to do a 1st aid and creche worker training course. Alex was in the creche each day and really enjoyed himself. He didn't cry at all, ate all of his snack and played with the toys. Good practice for nursery. We met up with Alex's friends, Jack, Nicholas and Emily at Border's Books at the end of the month and all the babies enjoyed playing together on the big comfy couch. |
