We go to Loanhead with Katie & Michael (our next door neighbours) and to Gracemount with Kirsty and Nicholas (who is exactly the same age as Alex).
Alex has started making a lot more sounds now, he even shouted "hey" at Grandad J on 4 June. He gurgles a lot and laughs a lot too, especially if someone else is laughing at him.
On 5th June we went to Liberton Primary School Summer Fayre - this is one of the local schools that Alex might go to. That night Alex stayed at Grandma & Grandad J's house overnight while Mummy and Daddy had a well earned break - they went out for a meal. Alex was fine (even if Grandma & Grandad couldn't figure out the baby monitor?!)
Alex is still rolling over lots now, if you leave him for a second, he is over and is trying to crawl but just doesn't have the strength in his arms to push himself up.
On 13th June we went to Church and Alex went to the Sparklers, it was the story of Samuel and the children made a headband with a little flame on it. Mummy, Daddy and Alex then went to the Treefestival at Inverleith Park. We saw all sorts of traditional crafts such as basket weaving, rope making, mud huts, pottery, and indian tee-pees.
On 19th June we went with Katie, Michael and David (his older brother) to St John Vianney's School Fayre - again this is a local school that Alex will have the choice of going to.
Alex has been trying lots of different fruits and vegetables. We have pureed a lot of them and put them in ice cube trays so that they are just the right size for Alex sized meals. For some of the foods he has tried see below. He seems to have got the idea about taking food off a spoon quite easily and the only things he is not too keen on is Cauliflower and Broccoli (but he has taken them mixed with other things!) He is still not too keen on drinking water from a cup with a baby spout, but we don't want to give him baby juice as it can damage his teeth before they come through. So will just need to keep trying. We've got lots of ideas from the Cow and Gate website - it has a great recipie finder option.
On 21st June Alex sat his Tadpole test at the Loanhead swimming session - the things he had to do were:
Enter and exit the pool safely
Bounce up and down in the water
Go under the water
Float (with armbands) for 10 seconds unaided by adult
Chase a toy
Go on front and back held by an adult
He gained a certificate and badge from the Scottish Swimming Association. On 23rd June we went to lunch at Vicky and Emily's house. Sarah and Jack were there too. It was very nice and Alex, Emily and Jack all played happily.
On 27th June Alex said "Mum" as clear as a bell, then the next day he said "DaDA" at Safeway (with Mummy) and Daddy didn't get to hear it!
That day Alex gained his 2nd bookstart certificate for "reading" four more books from the library (we have framed them and put them up in his room).
