MAY
May was the month that Alex started to have his first tastes of 'solid' food!!!

Our Health Visitor, Lisa, came to see Mummy and Alex  on 4th May to talk about weaning and what things to try.  So far Alex has had baby rice, which he doesn't seem to like, carrot, banana and raspberry and apple cereal and some mashed down rusks.  His favourite has been banana!

We finished baby massage on 5th May - as getting to Palmerston Place was starting to be a bit of a strain due to the lack of parking there, but at least now we know the strokes Mummy can give Alex a massage at home.

On 6th May Alex and Michael (from next door) and his Mummy Katie and June went to Moredun Library (our local library) for Bounce and Tickle - this is a session they run for Babies and children under 3 - a mixture of nursery rhymes and activities - they both really enjoyed it.

On 7th May - Grandad J held a ceilidh to raise money for Cancer Research and Alex wore a tartan waistcoat, white shirt and trousers for the occasion - he was a superb baby and enjoyed the music and dancing!  Great Auntie Ann was over from N. Ireland for the ceilidh and she really enjoyed seeing Alex again.  The total raised was £2,500!

Alex learned a new trick on 8th May where he rolled over completely onto his tummy.  He had been rolling onto his side for a while, but had been getting fustrated when he couldn't quite manage to make it right over.  We don't know who was more surprised when he did - Alex or Daddy!

On 11th May Alex met up with his Auntie Liz from downstair's twin grandson's Alexander and Oliver for the first time - they are a bit younger than Alex as they were only born in March - and for the first time he actually looks bigger than another baby!  Alex is becoming really interested in everything now and really nosey - he always likes to see what is going on around him.

We met up with some of the Mummies and Babies from the antenatal class on 13th May - Kirsty and Nicholas, Pippa and Toby, Sarah and Jack and Sophia and Nicky - it was good to see everyone and the boys seemed quite interested in one another.  That afternoon tho' the fun was spoiled for Alex when he got his 3rd set of jags! - he was not too bad that evening but the next night had a temperature and we finally had to break open the calpol.

Grandad and Nana Savage arrived that evening from Doncaster and were really pleased to see Alex and how he had grown.  On 15th May it was Daddy's birthday (32) and we all went - Grandad & Nana S and Grandad and Grandma J, Mummy, Daddy, Alex and our friends Sarah and Samantha to the megabowl for Daddy's birthday - Alex was mesmerised by the lights and music!  Grandad S was the winner at the bowling with 124 points.

On 16th May Alex was presented with his baptism certificate by the Trailblazers sunday school class and given the gift of a lovely "God loves me" people in the bible book.  We then went off for the afternoon to Edinburgh Zoo - most of which Alex slept through, but he had such an open eyed and mouth wide open expression of shock when he saw the giraffes.

On 20th May we went to Bounce and Tickle at Moredun Library with Katie & Michael and Kirsty and Nicholas - Alex gained his Bookcrawl certificate for "reading" 4 books.

Then on 26th May Alex went swimming for the first time to Gracemount swimming at the Parent & Baby session with Kirsty and Nicholas and met another friend Reuben and his mummy, Eve.
