This is a short Story about Medications that I have been on and
Side affects from the Drugs...
Predizone: I was first given( Started out on a 80mg) Pred in 1985 I was in the Hospitol from Aug 9 to Sept 27 I didnt notice the change in my personality for Several months Everyone around me did..I know I felt like I was in roller coaster and couldnt get off.
Emotionally I was wreck.. One moment I could be laughing the next and evil witch invaded my brain and I was angry or crying... I would look in the mirror and see an super skinny person with a swollen face. I could see every bone in my body. I was never in the 10 years before the Ostomy in 94 ever to taper off the predizone completly. As long as I was on the high doses of predizone, We could keep the Crohns in control.
But when we would start the tapering process. I kept hearing from my Doctors that I couldnt stay on the predizones for that long period of time.. However I did...... The thoughts on this matter are that.
That Predisone is one the major Contributers to my being throwed into Early Menapause at the age of 28. I am now 34.. My bone mass is not at the levels it should be.. I am a great Candidate for Osterprosis. :). My husband use to call me Mrs Jeckle/ Dr Hyde with all of the Mood turns... I now have an illostomy

and ....this is a pic of the stoma. Which is the end of the small bowl that is left.. The stoma is made a place on either side of your belly button and inserted thru to the outside Which is what you see here ..These are pics of the appliances. The little one is the what is called the flange, The other is the pouch is to catch you know what! There are differnt clips to use for the bottom of the pouch.. for those of that are curiose to what you will be getting for when you wake up from the surgery... Dont be alarmed..Most likely you will be assigned a ET Nurse which stand for Enderstomal Nurse who will show you differnt kinds of techniches... Keep in mind there are many differnt kinds of product for you to use.. I am still using what they showed me at the hospital.. I have tried others with no luck...always go back to what I started with...I hope these answer some of those scairy questions that may be in your mind.. These items fit together over the stoma. with using the flange first and then attaching the pouch.... Your stoma can be of any size.. I have to cut my flange to fit my stoma..
Once you get the routine done and the Cleansing you can even do the deed while talking on the phone... Just some humor there... I have a terrible since of humor. Please dont mind me..Just smile.
I have been on sulfazine, imodiem, flagl, cholraztine,zantac,tagament imuran,6mp, lots and lots of ensure... and some of the new antibodics I cant recall the names for i wasnt on them for very long... Alot of these Meds have caused some after affect the Flagl has kept my fingers numb I was on that Med for over two years... One of the things I havent covered as of yet is the time spent in hospitols... there was many. I lost count after 452 days around the year of 1989.. One of the Reasons I had to have the ostomy perfomed is from the scartissue from so many flares with the crohns, left me with narrowing and white tissue for instine the colan was nothing but white dead tissue by the time I arrived in Cleveland..
When the bag blows...its a bad day..lol
But then you pick up your new bag and start all over....Dont worry you will catch on....
When in the middle of the night you feel like your swimming in warm cool water your not!....
But most of all.. No pain...I like that most of all... with this I can do most anything..swim, snow ski. riding horses.... play with my children...
As of right now no medications...except for the estrogen for menapause....But for other things Life is grand..
As of this writing.. I have for the second time since 1994 when the ostomy was done.. I have had an absess in the rectal area.
The last time I had one was in 1996, I went back to Cleveland Clinc as my husband says for a tune up.. They had to basically turn the rectal space inside out and scrape and Clean.. and then I had to repack with gause so it could heal from the inside out.
I was free from Doctors for three years till 1999...I experiance anther abscess In June 11 1999 and had to return.. with the outcome of lancing the abscess and returning home with a rubber hose for draining.... The drain hose will be removed in two weeks time.... Hopefully everything will be ok....
Anther subject I would like to address.. is that I did have my children with active crohns. I did miss carried two babies.. But I did get my two with hard work...
... Way before they did the ostomy.... Both pregnancyS were very difficult for me.... But the usual staticas say that when your pregnant the Crohns goes quite.. I however was not one of the luckie oneS..Both Boys came early and I was confined to bed..But the end result was wonderful..to very healthy boys.....Who I live to watch grow!and they make smile and laugh all the time....

One More thing, I would like to say I am now working and I have attemted several things. 6 Months after surgery I applied for a Sales Position with a company. I was hired.. I worked with that Company for 1 year and half... I was offered an position with the Local Newspaper I accepted it and was with them for 9 Months... Now that was stressful...I took a year off to work for a friend and then worked as receptionist. Until I was offered an position with the Company that I am now with...I am now a Industrial Manufacture Rep for a Company Called Metro Industries(put the page link here) I enjoy doing and Living.. I am also a Mother and a Wife. I have also enjoyed learning Html... I know I am not great or fancy... I just want to Live Life... I want you do the Same... I know somedays you want to lie down and not get up... I still have those same days...When I am just so tired when I have done to much.....But I know what counts now ... It just took me a long time to figue it out...
