Brian Riley
A.K.A.
Hello. I wanted to share with you a great hobby of mine — Cowboy Action Shooting.
CAS combines an interest in the Old West with shooting sports. One of the distinct
characteristics of CAS is its emphasis on historical costuming and
firearms. All firearms must be pre-1899 in pistol caliber. Costuming must also be pre-turn-of-the-century. (To find out more, click the SASS Link.)
I am a proud member of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS #9238). I am also a recent
member of the National Congress of Old West Shootists (NCOWS #830). I shoot with the following clubs: Murietta Posse,
Mother Lode Shootists' Society, California Rangers, and the River City Regulators.
Alias:
The Single Action Shooting Society encourages the use of an alias. My alias is Irish Jack Riley. It
is based on an actual calvary trooper named John C. Riley. His nickname was Irish Jack. Since I have always had an avid interest in the U.S. Cavalry,
it was easy to wed this name to my own ethnic heritage. Most of the time, I sport the outfit of a U.S. Cavalry Trooper, on which I've spent a lot of time
researching its historical authenticity. During the hotter months, I like to dress as a regular cowpoke, and on rare occassions, I like to add a little flare and dress as a Vaquero.
