Grandma George spun her own material, long after it was necessary to do so. I have watched her spin cloth for hours. It always fascinated me. On pretty days that had little wind, Grandma would have Uncle Clint take the wheel out into the yard under a hugh old oak and spin away. When she finally started using material, it was the material from feed sacks prints. Usually they were some sort of bright flowers on a white background. There was a lot of excitement when the feed sack material ocassionally had a colored background. I still have some of the feedsack material of grandmothers.
