GEORGE Family Groups in Lincoln County, Tennessee
Benjamin GEORGE and Related Families
Benjamin GEORGE was one of the earliest settlers of Lincoln
County, Tennessee. He was noted in records of land transactions
as early as 1811, two years after the establishment of
the county. By 1820, 11 GEORGE families were noted in the U.S. census
for Lincoln County. There were about 18 GEORGE families
listed in the 1850 census, but many of these families had immigrated
to Lincoln County during the 1830s and some of the original
families had apparently moved out. Based on the page numbers
of the 1820 census and later census enumerations, we
can take a reasonable guess at what GEORGE families were related during
each period. This information provides a good starting
point for further research. The below study focuses on the families
believed to be related to Benjamin GEORGE. These
families all settled in the Tucker Creek area of Lincoln County east of
Fayetteville.
