He died about Dec 1887 in Sylamore, Stone County, Arkansas.
He was married to Margaret Stewart
(daughter of William Monroe Stewart and Celia Hayes) [NOTE: I have been unable to confirm that this is the parents of Margaret. EG]
on 2 Nov 1841 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.
Margaret Stewart was born in 1807/8 in North Carolina.
She died after 1860 in Sylamore, Stone County, Arkansas
[NOTE: Margaret was on 1880 Stone Co. Census EG.]

"My grandmother, Frances Adaline Catherine (Holden) Bridgman (dau. of Richard Holden and Martha C. George) said she was left an orphan at an early age.
She didn't talk a lot about her past or her people and, being only 14 when she died, I'm afraid I didn't really listen too well when she did talk about them.
I do remember her always saying that her grandparents were James and Nancy George.
When I found James on the census with a wife named Margaret,
I knew she had to be his second wife,
because I figured my grandmother surely knew what her grandmother's name was.
I found where James and Margaret married.
Their marriage is listed in Lincoln Co, TN, marriages."

SECOND GENERATION:
2. Rachel Adeline George was born in 1845 [1843 EG] in Arkansas.
She marr. 1st, Bill Dark nicknamed Old Bill Dark. He was an outlaw. Rachel Adeline George and Bill Dark had the following children:

7. Mary Jane George. She married to Peter Avey before 1850 in Missouri. [NOTE: Family legend as to location, no documintation of which I am aware. EG]

9. REBECCA GEORGE was born on 11 Aug 1835 in Tennessee.
She died between 24 Jun 1870 and 1876 in Mountain View, Stone County, Arkansas.
She was buried in Bickle's Cove, Stone County, Arkansas.
She has reference number 23. This is the book about the Thomas George family.

(son of JAMES HALEY and HANNAH unknown (haley)) on 2 Oct 1858.
JAMES AUSTIN HALEY was born on 27 Feb 1834 in Pulaski County, Virginia.
one note says that he was born in Gibson County Tennessee, another in mecklenberg co virginia.
On his pension application he said Pulaski Co Virginia and 1850 census of that county shows it he appeared on the census in 1850 in Pulaski County, Virginia. page 232.
He immigrated after 1850 to Gibson County, Tennessee.
He served in the military between 1861 and 1865 in Tennessee.
applied in 1903 and denied, he served in Co B, 12th Regiment of Manney's Bridgae, Cheatham.
He immigrated in 1865 to Eldridge, Obion County, Tennessee.
He appeared on the census in 1880 in Blue Mountain, Stone County, Arkansas.
He owned sec 23, 14n 10 w and sec 27 15n 12 w in 1889 in Stone County, Arkansas.
He died on 21 May 1906 in Blue Mountain, Stone County, Arkansas.
He payed tax on sec 30 8 west 16 north 1858-1861, 1865, 1866.
He has reference number 22.
He was named after spelled Haley on tombstone.
He is buried Bickle's Cove Cemetery.
He was born in Pulaski Co Va.,
but lived in Gibson co Tennessee at some point after 1850 census where he was shown in family in Pulaski Co Va p. 232
He lived after the civil war in Eldrige, Obion Co Tennessee until after his pension was denied in 1903.
Flags: civil war vet=I have a copie of his discharge papers.copies Hailey is English, and means dweller at the way, or passage leading to the hall.

Permelia Catherine married Bill Cole who was a member of Old Bill Dark's gang.

Dortha Gamel made the statement that she wondered if that could be possible, because she could not find her on census, that perhaps they were living in "one" of Dark's homes. EG]

He got a homestead application 4035 certificate 8780 from the Harrison Arkansas land office for 160 acres believe to be in Mt. View.
Homestead dated 1862 makes it a little clearer listed in Izard Stone Co tract book as having 1878 sec 21
