The first CABE of record in Washington Co., Arkansas was Thomas Jefferson CABE (b. 1798 NC). He paid property tax there in 1836 and 1837. His original land patent was recorded in 1838. He married twice in Arkansas both times to widows. His first marriage was to Martha Carnahan Pyeatte. Their children were: Margaret (b. 1835 AR) and Martha (b. 1837 AR). On June 15, 1853, Thomas Jefferson CABE married Margaret Pyeatte Pierce. Their daughter, Elizabeth, was born in 1854. He remained in Washington Co., AR for many years. He served in the Arkansas State Militia during the Civil War though he was "up in years". He was living with Elizabeth and her husband, John Thomas Williams, in 1897 near Seneca, MO when he died. He is buried there.
