Sunday afternon, June 28 was a special day at First Presbyterian Church, Marlboro.
Martha Williams Jordan, wife of Bruce Jordan and daughter of Rev. Alfred H. Williams, 3rd, and the late Doris H. Williams, was ordained into the Ministry.
The Service for Ordination was opened by Moderator Ariel Verdesi, Moderator of Hudson River Presbytery, who led the congregation in The Presentation and Call To Worship.
Also included in the service were: prayers offered by Elder Gilberto Velez, First Presbyterian Church - Marlboro and Rev. Marjorie Palmer, Honorably Retired; Scripture readings by Elder Pamela Terwilliger, First Presbyterian Church - Poughkeepsie; Gospel Reading by Elder Bruce Jordan, Hitchcock Presbyterian Church; Sentences of Scripture by Rev. Greg Wood from Presbytery of the James serving Lakeside Presbyterian Church of Richmond, VA; Statement of Ordination and Reaffirmation on the Baptismal Convenant by Rev. Barbara Lucia from Presbytery of the Western Reserve serving First Presbyterian Church of East Cleveland, OH.
Presentation of Symbols of Ministry was carried out by Martha's sisters Ms. Deborah Williams & Mrs. Becky Chen; her brother, Mr. Harry Williams, and their families. Rev. Jordan's father, Rev. Alfred H. Williams, 3rd, delivered the message entitled "Keeper of the Spring."
An invitation to the Lord's table was extended to all by Rev. Jordan. Serving the elements were Elder Joan Addy, First Presbyterian Church - Port Jervis; Elder Bob Bell, First Presbyterian Church - Marlboro; Elder Gail Minard, First Presbyterian Church - Highland; and Elder Jean Willets, First Presbyterian Church - Poughkeepsie.
Moderator Verdesi asked the Constitutional questions and Rev. James Vande Berg, Executive Presbyter of Hudson River, gave the Charge to the newly ordained pastor.
Following the Benediction, all gathered in the fellowship hall for a reception hosted by friends of Rev. Jordan.
