Even more of these wonderful horses from my past.
Plai-Thyme was the first horse that I ever owned. I bought her in halves with my sister, Karen
in 1980. She ws a "moggy" pony - about 13.3 hands if that and around 9 years old - aren't they all
when you are just learning a buy from a dealer?????? Anyway - she had a foal at foot and duly preseneted us
with 4 foals in all. She was ridden lightly and was great fun. We owned her for about 8 years before
having to be put down.
The purchase of this mare was a classic example of taking someone TRUSTWORTHY with you
when you buy your first horse if you are inexperienced. I still take someone most times just
to bounce off if I buy a horse. They may see things you do not.
Mariah was my real introductionto endurance. She was powerful and intense to ride. A true athlete in body I would never have believed a horse could canter 10km and more without drawing breath until I had ridden her. To ride her was priviledge, to lose her a devestation. She was put down at the age of 11 years in November,1999 due to a suspected brain damage from a fall in the paddock resulting in massive anxiety attacts and irratic behaviour where she was a danger to both me and herself.
Candy
Foaled A Very Long Time Ago!
With ardent admirers (l to r) my sons Lachlan and Mitchell, nephew Liam (mounted) and neice Lauren and Me! - early 1998
This was our lovely old kids pony.
She was put down late 1998 after age got the better of her. She provided hours of safe pleasure to, not only my children and relatives but 3 other girls in the family that owned her before us. She was purchased from a horse sale for $90 and was one of the worlds great bargins.
She did pony club with Mitchell - winning many ribbons at the shows he took her too. And she was gentle and tolerant of the babies hugging her legs.
She is sorely missed
