BUTTIE BUDDIES HISTORY

We bought our first two pygmy goats in late fall of 1993 strictly as pets. After hearing of a local pygmy show the next spring, we brought our beloved pets and quickly learned the difference between "pet" and "show" quality.

The pgymy owners were so friendly and enthusiatic that we also caught the show fever and we began to build our herd of quality animals, first by buying the best we could afford, and then by breeding for the characteristics we (and we hoped the judges) were looking for.

We usually keep an average of around 30 goats. While we have bred to get a variety of different colors of goats, we first emphasize structural correctness, easy kidding, and adherence to the pygmy breed standards. We now have excellent quality goats in a rainbow of colors from white caramel to dark caramel, silver to dark grey agouti, black , and silver to dark brown agouti.
