Of all my aunts and Uncles I guess I spent more
time visiting with "Aunt Mattie & Uncle Bill".
Maybe because they had so many kids that in that range
there was sure to be one to fit in. Being close friends
with "Joie" was easy as we always enjoyed the same things.
Even to this day we still do. We lived by Joanna and her
husband Bill for awhile and enjoyed their company...but
all good things must come to an end and we moved back to
the Ohio Valley...perhaps as Joann recently told me
...I was drawn back to search out our roots. But no
matter what the summers spent with Aunt Mattie were
passed on to my kids. She would set us down at the long
wooden table in her kitchen after a night of summer
fun and we would talk over hot cocoa and fresh made
cinnamon toast. When I had children of my own, the
practice continued and we would sit at the table and
talk for hours. Thank you Aunt Mattie for teaching me
that kids have to be heard.
